“Un nuovo incontro con l’Egregius Pictor” (“A new meeting with the Egregius Pictor”): a book and an app for the Nobile Collegio del Cambio

There are two initiatives that make up the new editorial project and innovation and adaptation of the ways of visiting the historical and artistic heritage of the Nobile Collegio del Cambio, place that preserves a cycle of frescoes executed by Perugino and considered among the greatest artistic expressions of the master.

Un nuovo incontro con l’egregius pictor. Rileggendo gli affreschi del Perugino al Cambio“, title of the initiative, has unveiled the project that provides for a publication in Italian and English on the Noble College of Change – the birth and historical functions of the institution; the Statutes and Freshmen; the transformations over the centuries of the seat; the realization of the wooden furnishings and frescoes by Perugino in the Sala dell’Udienza and Giannicola di Paolo in the chapel of San Giovanni.

As part of the same project, in the space between the Audience Hall and the Chapel of St John, a interactive touch-screen monitor for visitorsin five languages (Italian, English, French, Spanish, German) including sign language, with short descriptive cards, very high resolution reproductions of the works of Perugino, video animations.

“Information material more suited to today’s communication methods” Vincenzo Ansidei di Catrano (Rector of the Nobile Collegio del Cambio) said during the presentation, together with Francesco Federico Mancini (Professor of Art History of the University of Perugia, scientific curator of the project and author of the volume) describing the initiative also approved by the Committee promoter of the celebrations for the fifth centenary of the death of the painter Pietro Vannucci called “the Perugino”.
The president of the committee, Ilaria Borletti Buitoni, spoke and stressed that in this space, “the heart of the places of Perugino”, there is “a cycle of frescoes among the most important in Italy”. “A project that shows how the management of our cultural heritage is moving towards new paths of promotion”, commented Borletti Buitoni.
