Exhibition “NERO Perugino Burri” – from Thursday June, 22th to Monday October, 2nd 2023 – Palazzo Baldeschi, Perugia

From Thursday 22/06/2023 to Monday 02/10/2023

Palazzo Baldeschi

Corso Pietro Vannucci 66, 06121 Perugia PG

On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the death of Pietro Vannucci, known as Perugino, Fondazione Perugia, in collaboration with Fondazione Burri presents NERO Perugino Burri dal 22 June to 2 October 2023 at Palazzo Baldeschi in Perugia.

The exhibition, born from the Madonna with Child and two cherubs by Perugino, a valuable table preserved in the permanent collection of Fondazione Perugia, puts in dialogue the works by two of the greatest Umbrian artists through the common denominator of black, suggestive and peculiar chromatic solution adopted by both. An exhibition that brings out the common traits of two equally important artists, only apparently distant from each other, thanks to loans from some of the most prestigious museums in the world, including the Musée du Louvre in Paris, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence and the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria, as well as the Burri Collection.

The exhibition is curated by the art historian Vittoria Garibaldi, and by the President of Fondazione Burri Bruno Corà, who enthusiastically welcomed the challenge of creating the dialogue between Perugino’s and Alberto Burri’s works, two artists so distant in time, but united by their deep bond with their homeland, the Umbria Region.
