On the occasion of the exhibition “Il meglio mastro d’Italia. Perugino and his time”, organized by the Galleria Nazionale dell’umbria from March 4 to June 11, 2023, the “Marriage of the Virgin” painted by Perugino between 1501 and 1504 returns to Perugia after 200 years of absence.

The work, originally conceived for the Chapel of the Holy Ring at the Cathedral of Perugia, was in fact transported to France by Napoleon’s troops and is currently preserved at the Musée de Beaux-Arts in Caen, Normandy.
