The exhibition “Il meglio maestro d’Italia. Perugino nel suo tempo” at the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria finally opens to the public

Today March 4 the great exhibition that traces the golden years of the production of Pietro Vannucci called the “Perugino” finally opens to the public.

The exhibition, entitled “Il meglio maestro d’Italia. Perugino nel suo tempo”, set up at the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria in Perugia and curated by Marco Pierini, Director of the Museum, and Veruska Picchiarelli, Conservator of medieval and Renaissance art collections, is configured as a flagship event of the celebrations of the fifth centenary of the death of the Divine Painter.

Among the masterpieces on display, there are also works by Perugino that did not return to the city for two centuries, such as The Marriage of the Virgin, originally located in the Chapel of Sant’Anello in the Cathedral, taken by the Napoleonic troops during the eighteenth century and still kept in Caen, in France.

The exhibition will be open until 11 June 2023.
